The suppliers featured on this page emphasise the environmentally friendly features of the products and services they offer.

Cars are generally thought to be environmentally unfriendly, because of the carbon dioxide they produce in production and in use. The companies selling car insurance don't pretend to help to reduce the manufacturing impact, but they do promise to offset ALL of the carbon the cars produce when they are being driven. For every 1kg of carbon dioxide produced by a car that is insured by these companies, a donation is made that pays for an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide to be saved by a climate friendly project somewhere else in the world - one balancing the other to make driving carbon neutral.

The companies featured, ibuyeco and the Green Insurance Company are intermediaries. This means that they search the policies of a large number of insurers to help you find the policy you want at the best price. They do not check the same companies and do not usually come up with the same result, so it is worth checking both to make sure you get the best deal.

Sometimes, opportunities to help you to go green come from unexpected places. DIY Essentials, for example, have 3 part recycling bins for the kitchen that encourage you to separate types of recyclable materials.

Even Greener manufacture composters and water butts. They have a massive selection in all colours, shapes and sizes including tanks. They also have 200 other energy saving and environmental products including books. Delivery is generally around £5 for the order but free on orders over £75.

If you want to find out about ethical living, there is a bi-monthly magazine dedicated to the subject. Ethical Living magazine helps with ethical purchasing decisions and shows you how to seek out ‘ethically sound’ products and services. The cover price is £3 per issue, but subscribing saves 17% on 6 issues or 31% (£11) on a 12 issue subscription lasting 2 years. Ethical Superstore have a huge range of green, ethical, fair trade and organic products from solar phone chargers to organic baby food.

Ecotopia have a very wide range of goods, from groceries to fair trade gifts, including things for the house, home and garden, cosmetics and jewellery made from recycled or fair trade materials.

Envirofone pay you to recycle most mobile phones, even damaged ones and phones that don't work properly. Their web site indicates the value of each phone. They send you a welcome pack which includes an envelope that you use to send the phone. They test the phone and pay according to the value stated on their site and the condition of the phone. As well as paying you for the phone, they recycle it in an environmentally friendly way and make donations to charity from their income.
